In 2012, Mary Cheatham helped Kristy Harvey, her husband, Will, and their young son purchase a second home on Front Street in Beaufort. The historic home they selected was in disrepair, but Kristy and Will saw the potential and undertook the renovations. Today, the property is their full-time home, nothing short of a show place, and the site of the pre-launch party for Kristy’s latest novel, Slightly South of Simple.
Mary Cheatham says, “I knew Kristy was writing when we worked together on the Front Street purchase, and I was blown away when I picked up her first book, Dear Carolina, a couple of years later. When Lies and Other Acts of Love came out, I read it in one sitting and then immediately texted Kristy to discuss the characters. I love Southern Fiction and she nails it!”

Partnering with the Beaufort Historical Association, Kristy hosted a pre-launch party for her new novel on April 21st in her home on Front Street. Guests enjoyed cocktails and dinner by Vivian Howard of Chef and the Farmer, and music by Blue Moon Jazz.
Slightly South of Simple, is the first in the Peachtree Bluff Series. Set in the coastal Georgia town of Peachtree Bluff, this series chronicles the journeys of three sisters and their mother—and a secret from their past that has the potential to tear them apart and reshape their very definition of what it means to be a family.
