#GirlBoss Campaign | Swanky Sweets Bake Shop

    1. At what age did you start baking? I am not sure of the exact age,  but I grew up in my grandmother (Nanny) and mom’s kitchen. I would say by the time I was 3 or 4 I was involved in it.
    2. What was the inspiration behind opening your own business? I had always wanted to open my own brick and mortar business, and specifically have it be a bakery. I wanted to have it in a little town, where you would get to know your regulars by name...I always loved everything about that! My husband had always wanted me to pursue that dream, and I just wouldn’t take that leap because I was comfortable in Corporate America. When he passed away in 2016, I kind of just knew it was the time for it. It was the time to chase the dream and to be able to show my kids that you can make something great and “rise” out of something so tragic.
    3. What has been your most difficult hurdle? Being an entrepreneur isn’t easy! There doesn't seem to be enough time in a ...

    #CarteretGirlBoss: CÔTE Boutique x MCKRE

What brought the two of you together...as friends and as partners in the fashion biz?
Abby: We met in Charlotte when we both worked at an accounting firm. We quickly bonded over our love for fashion and fun. When Andie moved here to Morehead City, I quickly followed and we knew it was time to start our business. We started online in March of 2017 and moved into our storefront by June of that same year!

Andie: Helping women to find a new style, especially those that may think they are “too old” for our store. It is inspiring to teach our customers how to incorporate our clothes into their own wardrobe, and let them find the confidence they may not have had before setting foot into Côte Boutique.  We love to put together outfits for someone wanting to explore or change up their style.

Especially for first time customers... What is the vibe of your store and your clothes, and what do they project?
Abby: Our store vibe is bohemian with So ...

MCKRE Visits Early Girl in Beaufort!

Written by Landie Canfield, Client Care Coordinator & Copywriter

Landie hanging out with friend and owner of Early Girl, Christy!

Christy Reisz took the idea of backyard farming, combined it with her love of cooking fresh, flowers and hard work, and gave us Early Girl. She brings beauty and joy to Beaufort and beyond with her stunning stems and tasty treats that she plants and nurtures from dirt to plate.

Christy’s philosophy as a farmer is as pure and as good as her joyous spirit and rowdy laugh. Everything at Early Girl Farm is organically grown and treated with care and respect for the earth. It starts with the soil, “the most important part” of the garden. Adding to her policy of no pesticides and no waste, Christy plays music to her plants to get them in the growth groove.

Wandering the mixed rows of blooms and greens is a delight to the senses: from lush lettuces and jewel-toned carrots to aromatic herbs and mircrogreens that beg to be touch ...
