Mary Cheatham King and Executive Chef-Owner, Creighton McNeill
grew up together in Greensboro.
Pescara is housed in the second oldest cottage in Atlantic Beach which was relocated to “The Circle” on the Atlantic Beach Boardwalk. The first floor of the original cozy home is where the bar and dining room are now situated. Much of the original wood paneling was reused in the interior of the restaurant, as well as other traditional materials from coastal Carolina cottages. A wrap-around porch has been added for al fresco dining, where you can dine and take in the ocean breezes and admire the sunset.
Food & Wine
Pescara features traditional Italian ingredients and preparations—including a wood-fired oven—along with produce and seafood sourced from local farmers and fishermen. The menu is more in keeping with what you might find at a seaside café in Italy than what you would see at a typical American Italian resta ...

Our Prediction: 5 Design Trends for 2018
That Take It in a New Direction
by Landie Dalleo
2017 is out and 2018 is in, and with the new year come new ideas and an entirely new energy, style and spirit in home design. Say goodbye to stark minimalism, and colorless bleak interiors, and hello to moody, vibrant color, and imperfection. This year is all about individuality and joy, originality, and mood. Color, and texture convey sensation and emotion. The good news is these are trends that are totally accessible. Inspiration can be accomplished with a coat of paint, light fixtures or new curtains. Make it your own…. your home says who you are.
We at MCKRE have our predictions of what will be on trend this year.
Our number one style pick is Wabi-sabi, a Japanese aesthetic taken from Buddhist teachings about the acceptance of transience and imperfection. A combination of beauty and a willingness to accept things as they are, it applies to objects and peo ...

119 Fawn Creek Court: A Sound-side Sanctuary
by Landie Dalleo
When turning down Fawn Creek Court into the Magens Bay enclave, the manicured lawns and pristine facades of each uniquely impressive home in this neighborhood tell you that you have arrived at a secure and exclusive neighborhood. Driving down to the home at 119, you’ll want to slow down and take in the vista as the water approaches and the sky opens up in front of you. As you pull into the driveway, you can enjoy the peace of nature on one side and the grandeur of the home on the other.
Inside you are greeted as warmly, reflecting the same harmony between architecture and nature. Impressive interior space mixed with natural elements bring the outside in. Warm light streams through the many windows, cathedral ceilings create an airy openness, and a showstopper fireplace adorned with smooth river stones climbs its way to the top. The house manages to combine large spaces with an intimate f ...

The Virtuous Cycle of Gratitude
by Landie Dalleo
Client Care Coordiantor
The New Year brings with it many things: It is the final bang of the holiday season. The occasion itself is most often marked with a combination of revelry and reflection. We count it down, we cheer it on, we whoop and holler...we kiss! It is a time of wrapping up the old and starting anew. This year we added a layer of snow to the mix, a fitting tabula rasa effect, which begs the question, how do we begin this brand new year?
At Mary Cheatham King Real Estate, we are starting 2018 with gratitude. We are grateful every day here, we bask in the comfort and delight of friendships made, new clients, new growth. We thank those around us for their love and support—our team members, our community, our friends and vendors. This past year, we labored through the challenges of forging ahead on unfamiliar ground; of losing some employees, but gaining new ones; of surpassing our goals and making more ...
